The challenge:

The Concours d’Élégance, which translates from French to mean "a competition of elegance," is a car show that has its origins in the 17th century in France.

The Kenyan Concours d’Élégance was established in 1971 and has been held annually ever since. It is organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners' Club Kenya and is sanctioned by the Kenya Motorsports Federation and the FIM Africa.

Over the years, this event has grown to become the largest motoring event in Kenya, attracting an average of 10,000 visitors each year.

I was given the challenge to create a compelling event poster using illustration and typography.

The solution:

I developed unique lettering and illustration that showcased aspects of the event. The focus of the event is fashion and vintage cars, and I wanted to show that through an African lens. As the event originates from Europe, I wanted to bring a little bit of that tone into the design as well.
